Subject: | Regional Community Colleges Services Appropriation |
In the near future we will be introducing legislation that will release critical funding for the Regional Community Colleges Services appropriation, which was cut by Gov. Tom Wolf as part of his line-item veto of House Bill 1460 (Act10A of 2015). Prior to the governor’s veto, House Bill 1460 appropriated $3 million to Regional Community Colleges Services, which represented a 25 percent increase over the 2014-15 fiscal year. These funds, had they not been eliminated by the governor, would have helped to provide access to higher education in underserved and high-need areas throughout the Commonwealth. It is vital to offer students in every region of the state access to all levels of education to help best prepare them for today’s workforce. The elimination of these education funds will jeopardize opportunities for students in many communities. Please join us in sponsoring this legislation which helps to provide access to higher education throughout the state. |
