| Subject: | Veterans Alternative Punishment–Corrections 3 Year Savings $100,000,000 |
| On Tuesday July 5, 2016 I will be introducing the attached legislation to transfer 1,500 of the states 5000 inmates with veteran’s service to a voluntary intermediate punishment program. The qualified inmates will reside outside prison walls and build conservation facilities and trails. The transfers will provide eligible veteran inmates a second chance and job skills, with savings to Corrections by the third year of $100 million dollars. |
