MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 16, 2016 03:18 PM
From: Representative Lynwood W. Savage
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution recognizing 2016 HBCU All-Star Student Anitra Jackson

In the near future, I will introduce a resolution honoring the academic achievements of Anitra Jackson, the only Pennsylvanian to be named by the White House as a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) All-Star Student for 2016.

Anitra Jackson began her college career with a full, merit-based scholarship to Cheyney University, the nation’s first historically black university. Immediately Anitra excelled, declaring a double major in computer science and mathematics with hopes of becoming a computer engineer. In addition to being a double-major, Ms. Jackson is involved in several on campus sports including tennis, track and field, and cross country.

Ms. Jackson’s community involvement is not limited to athletics, as she is also actively involved in several academic groups throughout campus. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the Keystone Honors Council, the Student Academic Council, and is an Executive Board Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Her active involvement lead to her being crowned Miss Cheyney 2016. Anitra Jackson is the only college student in the Commonwealth to serve as an ambassador for the White House Initiative on HBCUs as a 2016 Historically Black Colleges and Universities All-Star Student.

This resolution will honor the academic achievements of Anita Jackson, as well as recognize the influence she has on Historically Black Colleges and Universities throughout the Commonwealth in her role as a 2016 HBCU All-Star. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution.
