Subject: | Resolution – Animal Adoption Awareness Week |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution designating the week of April 19th – 25th as “Animal Adoption Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania. This resolution encourages people to adopt, discourage puppy mills, and to ease the burden on shelters. According to the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA), there were a total of 4,763 pet adoptions in 2014. However, nearly fifty percent of dogs and seventy percent of cats in shelters will be euthanized because they were not able to be adopted or the shelter could not afford to provide medical treatment. I hope you will join me in supporting this resolution. Let us help the dogs and cats of our Commonwealth find a loving family and home. |
