Subject: | Recognizing April 14, 2015 as Forest and Paper Products Day in Pennsylvania |
In the near future I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing Tuesday, April 14, 2015 as Forest and Paper Products Day in Pennsylvania. Over 10% of the Commonwealth’s manufacturing workforce is involved in the industry and approximately 60,000 Pennsylvanians make a livelihood in the forest and paper products business. There are also over 2,100 separate businesses involved in the forest products industry with a presence in every county of the Commonwealth. It is important to recognize “Forest and Paper Products Day” to remind the citizens of the Commonwealth the unique contributions the forest products industry has made to the history, texture, and quality of life in Pennsylvania. Forest products encompass an incredibly wide range of products with nearly limitless everyday uses from facilitating education, communications, hygiene, food storage, and product protection to providing shelter and homes. I hope you will join me in recognizing this important part of Pennsylvania’s economy. If you have any questions regarding this resolution, please contact Nathan Akers in my office at 787-9684 or nakers@pasen.gov. |
