Subject: | Celebrating April 14, 2015, as the 67th anniversary of the United States Air Force Reserve |
I will be introducing a resolution commemorating April 14, 2015, as the 67th anniversary of the United States Air Force Reserve, which was founded in 1948. On April 14, 1948, the Army Air Corps Reserve transferred to the Air Force, officially becoming the Air Force Reserve and a critical part of our nation’s defense. Reservists have played vital roles in U.S. operations including but not limited to the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. On this day it is important that we reflect upon the contributions of each and every member of the Air Force Reserve which totals 71,500 airmen. These members are stationed across 67 locations in the United States including the 911th Airlift Wing located at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Please join me in honoring our reservists and co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
