Subject: | State Veterans' Home Week (June 14-20) |
Please join us in co-sponsoring a resolution designating the week of June 14 to 20, 2015, as “State Veterans’ Homes Week” in Pennsylvania. “State Veterans’ Homes Week” is designed to encourage citizens to visit the American heroes currently being cared for in one of the state’s six veterans’ homes, thank them for their sacrifices and service, and thank the staff and volunteers who provide exceptional care every day. For more than a century, the Commonwealth has tended to the needs of aging, ill and injured veterans in these state-supported homes. Under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the staff provides personal care, skilled nursing care, domiciliary care and dementia care to more than 1,600 veterans and their spouses, in Erie, Hollidaysburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, and Spring City. In 2013-14, SR 157 was sponsored by Senators Baker, Alloway, Brewster, Dinniman, Eichelberger, Erickson, Farnese, Ferlo, Fontana, Greenleaf, Hutchinson, Kasunic, Pileggi, Rafferty, Stack, Smith, Tartaglione, Teplitz, Tomlinson, Waugh, Washington, White, Wozniak, and Yaw. |
