Subject: | "Heatstroke Prevention Day" in Pennsylvania (July 31, 2015) |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution recognizing July 31, 2015, as “Heatstroke Prevention Day" in Pennsylvania. Heatstroke is the leading cause of non-crash vehicle-related fatalities for children 14 and younger. Unfortunately, even great parents can forget a child in the back seat. Other risk factors include caregivers who aren’t used to driving kids or whose routine suddenly changes. This same date, July 31, is National Heatstroke Prevention Day. Heatstroke deaths have been recorded in 11 months of the year in nearly all 50 states, including Pennsylvania. We can all help reduce the number of injuries and death caused by heatstroke by raising public awareness of the importance of preventing these senseless tragedies from occurring. |
