Subject: | Expansion of Caregiver Support Program |
In the very near future, I will be offering a Resolution calling on Congress to expand the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs Caregiver Support program to all service-era veterans. In 2010, the Caregiver Support program was created to support the family caregivers of post 9/11 veterans. Unfortunately, current law excludes pre- 9/11 veterans from participating in the Caregiver Support program, ultimately denying 80 percent of veterans and their family caregivers from receiving assistance. Providing all service-era veterans access to this program would allow for an additional 615,000 veterans and their families to receive the best available care and resources. Please join me in co-sponsoring this very important resolution. |
