Subject: | Naloxone Reporting |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation requiring mandatory reporting for all heroin and opioid overdoses where Naloxone, also known as Narcan, was administered. Currently, there is no mandatory reporting system in place. During nine public hearings held by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania in response to the heroin and opioid epidemic, law enforcement officials addressed the inadequate tracking methods used to document overdoses and deaths. At this time, naloxone reporting is voluntary, and I believe this legislation will help provide a more accurate assessment of the heroin epidemic in Pennsylvania. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
