Subject: | Education Law and Regulation Review |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution that directs the Joint State Government Commission to conduct a study to analyze and identify which education laws and regulations in this Commonwealth have more stringent standards than what is required by Federal law. The findings will be presented to the General Assembly within one year of the adoption of this resolution. I also circulated a similar cosponsor memo -- that will soon be introduced -- calling for a study on environmental laws and regulations that go beyond Federal law to assist with economic growth and job creation while still maintaining a balance. In similar fashion, I would like to help our school districts. Often, mandates create difficulty for our local school boards in governing their individual schools. By identifying these laws and regulations the General Assembly can introduce legislation that would give them the flexibility they need to efficiently and effectively run their districts. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution. |
