Subject: | Resolution Urging Congress to Address Needs of Female Veterans (Prior HR 264) |
I am planning to reintroduce a resolution urging the US Congress to expeditiously address the health, social and economic needs of our female veterans. The Disabled American Veterans’ report entitled “Woman Veterans: The Long Journey Home” outlines many of the specific institutional and cultural challenges and provides solutions and recommendations to create a better homecoming for our female veterans. Approximately 280,000 women have served in Iraq and Afghanistan alone. The Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal partners must recognize and address the unique challenges faced by women returning from combat deployment, so they are better able to readjust in their occupations, education and relationships. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution to show your support for our female veterans. Previous Cosponsors: READSHAW, BOYLE, V. BROWN, D. COSTA, DAVIS, DONATUCCI, DRISCOLL, FARINA, FRANKEL, GILLEN, GOODMAN, KAUFFMAN, KINSEY, MAHONEY, MAJOR, McNEILL, MILLARD, ROZZI, SABATINA, SCHREIBER, SCHWEYER, STAATS, TAYLOR, VEREB, WATSON, YOUNGBLOOD, TOOHIL, WARD, FARRY and KORTZ |
