Subject: | National Dispatchers Week - Resolution |
I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the week of April 9 - 15 as National Safety Telecommunications week. This week will honor 911 Dispatchers whose diligence and professionalism keep our communities and citizens safe. Public Safety Telecommunicators have dedicated their careers to the protection and aid of the citizens of the Commonwealth. Because emergencies can occur at any time emergency services personnel must always be available for assistance and when an emergency occurs the prompt attention of emergency first responder personnel and police officers is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property. The safety of our emergency medical services personnel, firefighters and police officers is dependent on the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who call 911 communications centers. Public Safety Telecommunicators are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services personnel and are an important part of the emergency services team. They exhibit compassion, understanding and professionalism during some of the most difficult and stressful public safety situations. Please join me in recognizing their excellent public service by sponsoring this resolution. |
