Subject: | Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) Hauling Permits |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation that will assess an annual hauling permit fee of $900 for overweight vehicles less than 100,000 pounds with a hauling distance greater than 50 miles. Currently all overweight vehicles less than 100,000 pounds pay a permit fee of $750 if they are travelling more than one mile in distance. This legislation will also allow for the transportation of multiple hot ingots a distance of up to 125 miles. Currently under the Vehicle Code (Title 75) a hauler may transport only one hot ingot a distance of 25 miles. Technological advances in the manufacturing process currently allow for ingots to be shipped in multiple pieces, and the need for lengthier travel between manufacturing plants has become greater. I urge my fellow colleagues to support this piece of legislation. |
