Subject: | Resolution designating September of 2017 as "Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating September of 2017 as "Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania. It is estimated that 22,280 American women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year and 14,240 women will die as a result. Ovarian Cancer is the eighth most common cancer in women and only about 15% are found at an early stage, when 9 out of 10 women treated will live longer than 5 years. Because there is no single test that will diagnose this cancer, many women do not receive the diagnosis until late in its development. Ovarian cancer is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are subtle and very often misinterpreted by both women and physicians. I would greatly appreciate if you would join me in co-sponsorship of this important resolution to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer. |
