Subject: Naming of U.S. Route 219 Powers Run Bridge in Johnsonburg, Elk County as the Michael Trunzo Memorial Bridge.
 
At the specific request of the Johnsonburg Mayor and Borough Council, I intend to introduce legislation in the near future to name the Powers Run Bridge on U.S. Route 219 in Johnsonburg, Elk County, which is currently in the process of being replaced, as the Michael Trunzo Memorial Bridge.

Immediately adjacent to the Powers Run Bridge is the headquarters of the Area Transportation Authority, which is a public transit agency serving six rural counties in north central Pennsylvania.

The Johnsonburg Borough Council passed a resolution requesting this legislation, which reads as follows:

Michael Trunzo Memorial Bridge Naming

WHEREAS, the Johnsonburg Borough is pleased to recognize individuals who contribute in a
meaningful way toward the wellbeing of our community; and

WHEREAS, Michael Trunzo served for fifteen years of dedicated service to the Area
Transportation Authority (ATA) of North Central Pennsylvania as Director of Information
Systems and Technology; and

WHEREAS, as Director of Information Systems and Technology, Mr. Trunzo collaborated with
the State Radio Office to provide voice and data coverage to 95% of the north central region of
ATA's service area 95% of the time. He initiated the integration of voice communications
between ATA's Regional Dispatch Center, its fleet drivers and the region's 911 centers. His
knowledge and experience with advanced digital technologies help to further statewide
initiatives to better the lives of the residents of this region and the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Johnsonburg Borough Council wishes to
name the SR219 bridge over Powers Run in the Johnsonburg Borough near the Area
Transportation Authority headquarters as the Michael Trunzo Memorial Bridge.

In accordance with the wishes of the leaders of the Borough of Johnsonburg, I invite you to join me in sponsoring this legislation to honor Michael Trunzo, a noteworthy citizen and committed public servant.
