Subject: | Resolution Recognizing March 2018 as “National Social Work Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the month of March 2018 as “National Social Work Month” in Pennsylvania. As you know, the mission of social workers is to help individuals who need assistance with social problems and life complications. Social workers play a crucial role in our society and are often the driving force behind important social movements in Pennsylvania, the United States, and abroad. Additionally, social workers are the largest provider of mental health services in Pennsylvania, with over 11,000 licensed social workers operating throughout this Commonwealth. This year’s theme for “National Social Work Month” is “Social Workers: Leaders. Advocates. Champions.” which will inform the public about the past and present role of social workers in our society and their impact on the lives of all Americans. These compassionate women and men endeavor to make sure everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections and opportunities. “National Social Work Month” gives us an opportunity to properly recognize our social workers for the skillful and unselfish work they perform 365 days a year. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
