Subject: | Reduced Fee for Identification Cards |
The current cost for a Pennsylvania identification (ID) card represents a financial burden for many vulnerable populations. These fees will continue to increase with inflation making it more difficult to gain proper identification for purposes including, but not limited to, applying for assistance, gaining employment, or enrolling in college. In order to mitigate this issue for senior citizens as well as low-income, homeless, and disabled individuals, I plan to introduce legislation reducing the cost of ID cards. In addition, as a small token of our appreciation for their service, I want to extend this discount to our veterans. Under my bill, these individuals would be able to obtain identification at a reduced fee of one-half of the full cost in the year in which the applicant applies for the card. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislative initiative which will help provide identification at a reduced cost to our veterans and citizens in most need in an effort to help them gain greater independence. Your support and consideration are most appreciated. |
