Subject: | Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation designating the portion of State Route 192 from the intersection with State Route 477 in Miles Township, Centre County, to the intersection with State Route 144 in Centre Hall Borough, Centre County as the Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway. Although there was no official declaration of war, it is widely accepted that the Vietnam War started on November 1, 1955, and ended on April 30, 1975, lasting 19 years, 180 days. In all, approximately 2,700,000 American men and women served in uniform in Vietnam, including over 300,000 Pennsylvanians; 240 men were awarded the Medal of Honor. Nearly 60,000 Americans gave their lives over the course of the war, including over three thousand Pennsylvanians. Please join me in honoring veterans of the Vietnam War by offering your support of this proposal. Your co-sponsorship would be greatly appreciated by the residents of Miles Township and Centre Hall Borough, who wish to honor all of our Vietnam veterans in central Pennsylvania. Thank you in advance for your consideration. If you have any questions, please contact Cory Smith at 717-772-2283 or by email at CJsmith@pahouse.net. |
