Subject: | Motorsports Day in Pennsylvania |
As many of you know, Pennsylvania offers great family-oriented venues across the state for a wide variety of motorsports racing of all types. Not only do motorsports provide entertainment to thousands of Pennsylvanians, but the Commonwealth has benefited economically from racing activities, as well as the long-term investment of numerous businesses that are involved in the production and engineering of various vehicles used in racing today. Given the importance of motorsports to Pennsylvania and its economy, I believe that it is important to annually recognize this sport’s contribution to the Commonwealth. I intend to introduce a resolution in the near future that will recognize September 25, 2018 as “Motorsports Day in Pennsylvania.” This special day will honor both those who participate in motorsports and those who are fans of motorsports. And there are many fans! Pennsylvania is one of two states having the most National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) fans and there are approximately 20 chapters of the Official NASCAR Members Club located in this Commonwealth. I encourage you to cosponsor this resolution in honor of motorsports. |
