Subject: | Corporate Transparency Legislative Package |
I will soon introduce a package of bills that seeks to promote a level of transparency and accountability as it relates to the largest employers operating in Pennsylvania. Too often, working families are having to live paycheck to paycheck, while the salary disparity between the lowest-paid workers and (often out-of-state) CEOs has never been higher. Important measures offered in these bills will ensure a more empowered workforce which is employed by a more responsive and inclusive set of stakeholders at the helm of Pennsylvania’s largest enterprises. Under my legislation, corporations will be required to disclose all U.S. holdings; federal and state tax credits and subsidies received; and the number of employees receiving public assistance. Finally, it will require one-third of the voting board of directors to be current employees. Pennsylvanians deserve a fair deal. We cannot continue to allow the largest corporations to benefit the most while hard-working women and men across the Commonwealth are condemned to barely make ends meet. This legislation will ensure transparency and encourage meaningful corporate responsibility toward the ultimate goal of ending corporate welfare and public dollars being leveraged for private gain. I ask you to join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
