Subject: | Changes to the Child Protective Services Law |
In the near future Senator Vulakovich and I will re-introduce Senate Bill 1156 from last session. This legislation would make changes to the Child Protective Services Law background check requirements for hospital personnel and doctors. Between the 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 sessions the General Assembly passed more than twenty bills to update the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) to implement many of the recommendations from the Governor’s Task Force on Child Protection. Previously, these individuals were covered under the CPSL. This bill would ensure those individuals are covered under the law. Additionally, this bill would make several technical changes to the law. This bill was passed unanimously from the Senate last session. Technical changes were made in the House that will be included in this version as well. Previous co-sponsors for this legislation were Senators RAFFERTY, SCHWANK, COSTA, FOLMER, FONTANA, BARTOLOTTA, RESCHENTHALER, TARTAGLIONE, KITCHEN, BREWSTER, BROWNE, HUGHES and BOSCOLA Please join us in cosponsoring this worthy piece of legislation.
