Subject: | Female Veterans Day 2018 resolution |
I will be introducing a resolution in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Commission on Women to recognize Wednesday, March 28 as "Female Veterans Day" this year in Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth is home today to more than 71,000 female veterans who have served our nation and state honorably and faithfully. Women have been fully integrated into our Armed Forces for some 70 years. While often overlooked and unknown to many people, however, women actually have served in defense of our country from its earliest days, sometimes unofficially, sometimes in disguise, and frequently in auxiliary units, but with valor and commitment at all times. Today, women put their lives and well-being at risk alongside their colleagues in all services and specialties, and serve in the highest ranks of each branch of our military. I hope you will join with me in supporting this deserved recognition for our female veterans. |
