Subject: | Pennsylvania Health Care Information Technology Awareness Day |
I will soon be introducing a resolution recognizing May 1st, 2018 as “Pennsylvania Health Care Information Technology Awareness Day”. The United States spends more than $3 trillion on health care each year, representing 17.9% of gross domestic product nationally. Spending on health care has increased 40% from just a decade ago. However, the health care industry invests only 5% of its revenue on information technology and information systems versus 10.5% of other data-intensive industries. My hope is the Senate recognize the importance of raising awareness of health care information technology and the advancement of health information exchange to help improve the quality of care, save lives and reduce the cost of health care. The intent of this resolution is to continue promoting better health care through broader adoption of advanced health care information technology and management systems. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution. |
