Subject: | Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I intend to offer a resolution to designate the month of November 2018 as “Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. According to the American Cancer Society approximately 55,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018, with more than 44,000 people dying from this disease. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in the United States, and Pennsylvania ranks fifth in the nation for pancreatic cancer diagnoses. Increased awareness about pancreatic cancer and research into early detection, causes and effective treatment directly enhance the good health and well-being of Pennsylvania residents. My hope is that this declaration will continue to spread awareness and assist in educating the residents of the Commonwealth about the aggressive nature and lethality of pancreatic cancer, which in turn will result in increased early detection. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
