Subject: | Recognizing 2024 as the Year of the Franklin Institute in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution designating 2024 as the “Year of the Franklin Institute” in recognition of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia—one of the nation's oldest and most renowned science museums. Since its founding on February 5, 1824, the Franklin Institute has become a leader in informal science education, a hub for community engagement, and a valued partner to schools and families across the region. Today, it is the most visited museum in Pennsylvania.
Through its exhibits and educational programs, the Franklin Institute helps make medicine, chemistry, physics, and technology—to say nothing of the sheer wonder of discovery—accessible to a broad audience and has inspired generations of children to pursue careers in the sciences.
Please join me in marking this notable anniversary and celebrating the impact of this historic institution on our commonwealth and beyond. |
