Pennsylvania workers deserve a living wage now! Millions of Pennsylvanians play by the rules and work hard, but continue to struggle. These working families cannot wait — they have children to feed, medical bills to pay, and utilities to cover. For far too long our minimum wage has not been a living wage. To help these hard-working taxpayers, I am proposing to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour by January 1, 2020. My bill will also remember those who survive on tips and gratuities by increasing the tipped wage to $4.50 per hour. Lastly, to ensure that Pennsylvania workers continue to receive a fair deal, my bill will increase the minimum wage annually based on the Consumer Price Index. As you know, the Consumer Price Index is a reliable metric for future increases because it reflects the inflation and rising prices that Pennsylvanians are facing in their daily lives. By raising workers’ pay to a living wage, we are providing a realistic shot at the American dream. Please stand with me and support my bill to help working families. |
