Subject: | Pennsylvania Transit Workers Awareness Day, March 15, 2019 |
Transit workers are an integral part of our Commonwealth’s infrastructure. Pennsylvanians in all 67 counties -both rural and urban- rely on public transportation to get where they need to go, whether that is work, school, the doctor’s office, the hospital, or the store. Mass transit also helps relieve traffic congestion and reduces our impact on the environment. The backbone of this great system are the transit workers who keep it running; safely and dependably. Further, transportation technology is constantly evolving, producing safer, cleaner-running, and more reliable vehicles. As such, transit workers are required to pursue rigorous and continual training to keep up with these technological changes and ensure riders who rely on these services get where they need to be. These hard-working individuals are deserving of recognition. Please join me in supporting and honoring these hard-working Pennsylvanians by co-sponsoring my resolution designating March 15, 2019, as “Pennsylvania Transit Workers Awareness Day.” |
