Subject: | Resolution Designating March 2019 as “Irish American Heritage Month” |
The contributions of Irish Americans to both Pennsylvania and the nation as a whole are diverse and plentiful in many respects. Irish Americans have accomplished countless feats in military service, academia, business, literature, science, and politics. In order to recognize Irish Americans for their community’s historical service and contributions, Saint Patrick’s Day Parades are held across Pennsylvania. Some of the largest parade celebrations take place in Philadelphia and Scranton, where thousands join in for what is always a joyous community experience. In an effort to celebrate the diversity, hard-work, and the positive community impact Irish Americans bring to our state, all Pennsylvanians are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations across the state, which annually take place on March 17th. Please join me in supporting this resolution that honors the shared values of all Pennsylvanians and marks an important occasion for our Irish American citizens. |
