MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 22, 2019 09:30 AM
From: Representative Marcy Toepel and Rep. Joanna E. McClinton, Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier, Rep. Morgan Cephas
To: All House members
Subject: Sexual Harassment Employee Protection Act

In the very near future, we plan to introduce legislation to expand resources for employers and employees in the prevention of and response to workplace sexual harassment. It is imperative that we protect every citizen in the Commonwealth from all types of harassment in their prospective places of employment. Pennsylvania workers deserve protection from workplace sexual harassment, and employers deserve the necessary tools to create a safe, productive working environment for employees.

Our proposal will benefit employers of all sizes, both public and private. The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) will be charged with developing model sexual harassment policies as well as provide sample training programs for workplace implementation. In addition to these resources, the bill will require the PHRC to establish a hotline for the purpose of reporting sexual harassment and to assist employers and employees in gathering information and materials related to sexual harassment.

Please consider joining us by cosponsoring this important legislation.

Introduced as HB755
