Subject: | Teacher Education Day - May 23, 2019 |
Teacher educators are essential to producing highly trained teachers who then are able to provide a high quality education for students. Although they serve behind the scenes, the role that teacher educators play is vital. Indeed, preparing teachers for their profession is a noble and exceptionally important endeavor, and requires dedication and selfless service. Teacher educators prepare, supervise, observe and evaluate teaching candidates and help such individuals achieve their fullest potential in the classroom. Student teachers gain essential experience through exposure to a wide variety of instructional opportunities, which include working with diverse groups of students and observing talented educators in a classroom setting. Through their involvement in this process, teacher educators are able to improve the quality of the educator workforce and positively impact student learning. The value of teacher educators as they serve in this foundational role is validated by Pennsylvania’s distinguished history and tradition of producing high quality teachers. With this in mind, my resolution will honor this Commonwealth’s teacher educators by designating May 23, 2019, as “Teacher Education Day” in Pennsylvania. This resolution will recognize the outstanding service of teacher educators who prepare teachers for Pennsylvania’s classrooms. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to honor this Commonwealth’s teacher educators. |
