Subject: | Resolution Honoring the late Marine Corps Private First Class Andrew Joseph Kukuruda |
Next week I will be introducing a resolution honoring the life and sacrifice of the late Marine Corps Private First Class (PFC) Andrew Joseph Kukuruda, formerly of the Crafton Heights neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh. PFC Kukuruda was born on December 3, 1950 and was a graduate of Langley High School. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He as a machine gunner assigned to the 3rd Marine Division, 4th Marines, M Company. He and other servicepersons were fighting to retake a Marine landing zone during the Tet 69 Counteroffensive Campaign, Operation Purple Martin. PFC Kukuruda and others were fatally wounded in this combat zone in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, on March 14, 1969, a mere three months from the start of his tour of duty. On March 14, 2019, on the 50th anniversary of his death, PFC Kukuruda’s friends and family will gather to remember and honor his service, sacrifice and memory. I would be honored to present this resolution and join them in remembering this remarkable young man and I would appreciate your co-sponsorship. Thank you! |
