MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 2, 2019 05:49 PM
From: Representative Stephen McCarter
To: All House members
Subject: Electric Vehicle License Plates

Electric and hybrid vehicles have special types of wiring, causing them to be very dangerous in the event of a severe crash. When first responders approach these types of vehicles that have been in accidents, they run the risk of being hurt or accidentally injuring passengers inside.

Given this issue, the legislature should support my proposal which would mandate special license plates for electric and hybrid vehicles. At no extra cost, these plates will help emergency responders quickly identify electric and hybrid vehicles, which require the use of special safety techniques. Electric and hybrid vehicle license plates will help assure quick identification and will protect both passenger and first responder.

It is our duty as public servants to do everything in our power to protect all Pennsylvanians. Please join in this effort to ensure the safety of motorists, passengers, and first responders in Pennsylvania.
