Subject: | Domestic Workers Bill of Rights |
Housekeepers, nannies, and other domestic workers are often excluded from federal labor laws. Because of their unique working environments, domestic workers are often victims of wage theft, sexual harassment, and other exploitations. It is time that we stand up for these workers and clarify the protections that other Pennsylvania workers enjoy. My legislation would create standards for domestic workers including designating wages, rest breaks, meal periods, and work schedules. This bill will also create a Domestic Workers Standards Board, which will provide recommendations on the industry and ensure that domestic workers have a voice in future policy decisions. Domestic workers work in our homes and care for our loved ones, and it is time we provide them the respect, dignity, and rights that they deserve. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation and improve working conditions for domestic workers in Pennsylvania. |
