MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 23, 2019 03:10 PM
From: Representative Parke Wentling and Rep. Robert F. Matzie
To: All House members
Subject: Consolidating material relating to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission into the History Code.

Please join us as cosponsors of legislation to consolidate material relating to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) into the History Code (Title 37 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes).

Most of the statutory language governing the operations of the PHMC was consolidated and moved from the Administrative Code of 1929 to the History Code in Act 72 of 1988. However, there are some remaining provisions in the Administrative Code of 1929 that have not been consolidated, including the requirement that members of the commission shall not receive compensation and the establishment of the commission’s volunteer program. Under this legislation, these two provisions would be consolidated, without changes to their substance, into the History Code.

We look forward to working with you on this important legislation.
