MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 27, 2020 02:47 PM
From: Representative Harry Readshaw
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution: Architects Day

When it comes to the spaces in which we live, work and play, architects do much more than create visually pleasing designs. They solve design problems and tailor buildings to the occupants’ needs in form, function and budgetary constrictions. What’s more, they help ensure the safety and sustainability of each structure by incorporating building code standards, access for individuals with disabilities and energy-efficient elements into architectural plans. With more than 8,000 licensed architects in Pennsylvania, and nearly 3,000 members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Pennsylvania, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of Pennsylvania architects.
That is why I will again be introducing a resolution designating May 5, 2020, as Architects Action Day in Pennsylvania. Please join me in celebrating Pennsylvania architects’ efforts to use innovative technology and design strategies to build healthy, safe, habitable and sustainable buildings and communities.
Last session, this resolution was introduced as HR 696. Previous co-sponsors were CALTAGIRONE, EVERETT, KAVULICH, BURNS, KULIK, HILL-EVANS, SCHLEGEL CULVER, DONATUCCI, TOOHIL, RYAN, NEILSON, ROTHMAN, LONGIETTI, SCHLOSSBERG, DiGIROLAMO, KINSEY, DUSH, SONNEY, THOMAS, ENGLISH, PASHINSKI, MILLARD, SAYLOR, WARD, MARSICO, GOODMAN, DeLUCA, MURT, HEFFLEY, WATSON, DOWLING, DEASY, BENNINGHOFF, STAATS, GILLEN, ROEBUCK, STURLA and BRADFORD.
