Subject: | Resolution: Massage Therapy Awareness Week |
When you feel exceptionally stressed out, are a little tense, or just want to treat yourself, you may call your local spa to book a massage. But you may not know there is a growing body of clinical research showing that massage therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of health issues, including stress, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain, muscle injury and soreness, headaches and solely for maintaining good health. What’s more, patients who discussed massage therapy with their doctor, physical therapist or chiropractor often found that those healthcare practitioners were likely to recommend or encourage the patient to get a massage. With all the benefits linked to a good massage, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the contributions massage therapists make to the overall health and wellness of Pennsylvanians. That is why I will be introducing a resolution designating week of October 25 through 31, 2020, as "National Massage Therapy Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania. Please join me in celebrating the 7,900 licensed massage therapists in Pennsylvania and their work to help our residents and visitors lead healthier, more relaxed lives. |
