MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 3, 2020 11:03 AM
From: Representative Maria P. Donatucci
To: All House members
Subject: Recognizing March 11, 2020, as “Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day”

Research shows that good nutrition lowers people's risk for many chronic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, some types of cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis. Good nutrition is also necessary for healthy development and growth in children and adolescents. An overall healthy lifestyle must include good nutrition, regular physical activity, no smoking and stress management.

In an effort to promote healthy nutrition practices in Pennsylvania, I am introducing a resolution designating March 11, 2020, as “Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day.” Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) are uniquely qualified to translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions to help people across the country live healthier lives. RDNs work in hospitals, educational institutions, public health and long-term care facilities.

Through increasing public awareness of the importance of good nutrition and how RDNs are vital to well-rounded healthcare, it is my hope that all Pennsylvanians will learn of the transformative power of food. Please join me in supporting this important resolution.
