| Subject: | Child Welfare Service Providers Appreciation Week in Pennsylvania (June 8-12, 2020) |
| I soon will introduce a House Resolution recognizing June 8-12, 2020 as Child Welfare Service Providers Appreciation Week in Pennsylvania. Every day in Pennsylvania, thousands of children receive services through our County Child Welfare Agencies. Many of these services are provided by private service providers who work closely with our child welfare agencies. These providers fulfill a crucial job by preventing abuse and neglect, strengthening families and most of all protecting the children in our Commonwealth. As Chairwoman of the House Children and Youth Committee, I have gained an even greater appreciation of these providers who work with children that have experienced trauma and have been victimized by physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and other forms of maltreatment. These men and women bring expertise in family preservation, foster and other out-of-home care, counseling, behavioral health treatment, independent living skills, and other challenging areas. Child welfare service providers develop and maintain a substantial amount of knowledge and skills surrounding the needs and rights of families, laws surrounding child welfare, and the challenges of working with county child welfare agencies. It is because of those fine child welfare service providers efforts that the lives of our children and families have been greatly improved. My resolution is one small way of recognizing the outstanding service providers who work so closely with our county child welfare providers. Without the tireless support and dedication of these committed providers, it would be impossible to maintain the crucial safety net that protects our children. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
