Subject: | Honoring and Remembering the Life of Mr. Terrence McNally |
Terrence McNally, who passed away on March 24, 2020, was one of the greatest and most prolific American playwrights who worked extensively to move gay men from their role as comic asides to relatable and well-presented characters. Mr. McNally will be remembered for his writing of dozens of well-known plays such as The Ritz, Love! Valour! Compassion!, and Master Class, his book writings for ten musicals, including Ragtime and Anastasia, the librettos for four operas and multiple screenplays for film and television. Throughout his extraordinary life, Mr. McNally was the recipient of four Tony Awards, two for his plays Love! Valour! Compassion! and Master Class and two for his musical books for Kiss of the Spider Woman and Ragtime. In addition to these honors, he was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the 2019 Tony Awards ceremony. Please join us in honoring the extraordinary life of Mr. Terrence McNally and expressing condolences for his passing. |
