Subject: | Resolution Encouraging Donations to First Responders and Health Care Workers in Pennsylvania |
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our lives with a seamlessly never-ending stream of new cases, now is not the time to forget our first responders and health care workers. Every day, they risk their health dealing with emergencies and caring for the sick and injured. Back in March, when this was all fresh and new, we were all motivated to provide support for these brave, front-line workers. Food drop-offs and drives were commonplace. However, as days turned into weeks and months, it became easier to fall into the doldrums and assume everything is well. For our first responders, this has not been the case. These heroes still need our help! Our first responders and health care workers continue to wake up each day with a goal of keeping the rest of us safe. Many continue to work extra hours, sometimes not returning home for days or weeks, to tend to people who are affected by COVID-19. As a way of providing continued support to these brave individuals, I will be introducing a resolution to encourage citizens to donate food and personal protective equipment to their local fire or police department, county department of public safety, or local foodbank, or to visit the Commonwealth’s new Critical Donations Portal to make a donation or see how else they can help during this critical time. Please join me in support of this important effort to ensure that those who work every day to protect us have the supplies they need. |
