Subject: | Construction Opioid Awarness Week in Pennsylvania |
I am preparing to introduce a resolution recognizing the last full week in July (July 27-31, 2020) as “Construction Opioid Awareness Week.” As you may know, the construction industry, which involves physically demanding labor and employs an older workforce, is particularly hard-hit by issues related to opioid and prescription drug abuse. To combat this, the Keystone Contractors Association has partnered with the National Safety Council to organize educational resources and promote awareness of the problem (and potential solutions) within the construction industry. They plan, along with a number of other industry and labor groups, to focus their efforts on the last full week in July – the height of construction season. My resolution will recognize these efforts by designating that week as “Construction Opioid Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
