Subject: | Co-sponsorship request: Establishing Limits on the Use of Consumer Fireworks |
While many around the Commonwealth enjoy the freedom to set off fireworks, most are cognizant of their neighbors and try to maintain decorum by limiting the hours of the day they use fireworks. Unfortunately, there are some who do not. I have fielded many calls from constituents requesting that we do something about the constant barrage of fireworks in their neighborhood, and not just on holidays. In an effort to address these concerns, I will be introducing legislation that would prohibit the use of fireworks between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. every day, except holidays, or if a permit has been issued by a municipality for their use. The bill would also provide penalties for second and subsequent violations of the law with fines ranging from $100 to $200. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation to help deal with this problem, while maintaining the freedom to enjoy fireworks! |
