Subject: | Ensuring Transparency About COVID-19 in Schools |
As schools prepare to deliver educational services to students this fall, the COVID-19 pandemic has families across Pennsylvania concerned about the health and safety of the students and staff within school buildings. These concerns are compounded by the unique set of familial living arrangements, health issues and demographics in each student or staff member’s home. To ensure every family can take the precautions necessary to protect themselves and/or their children, we must ensure there is transparency about the presence of COVID-19 in school buildings. Accordingly, I am introducing legislation to, while maintaining personal privacy, require each school entity to notify staff and parents of the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in a school building. We need to be sure families are provided with the information necessary to make informed decisions about keeping their loved ones safe. Please join me in cosponsoring this important legislation. |
