Subject: | Penalties accessed to liquor licensees at 50% or greater seating capacity during COVID-19 disaster emergency |
I will be introducing legislation that would penalize a liquor licensee for not following social distancing guidelines or a seating capacity limitation during the COVID-19 disaster emergency. These penalties would only occur if the seating capacity limitation is at 50% capacity or higher imposed by law or official action. No penalties would be levied below the 50% seating capacity threshold. A liquor licensee who violates the law would, first, receive a written warning. Second, a fine of $1,000. And, thirdly, a 30 day suspension of the license. There are a lot of licensees out there who are strictly following the guidelines and because there are a few 'bad apples', the industry as a whole is suffering. My legislation is aimed at weeding out the offenders. Please consider cosponsoring my legislation. Thank you. |
