MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 13, 2020 01:48 PM
From: Representative Karen Boback
To: All House members
Subject: National Sons and Daughters Day - August 11, 2020

In the near future, I will introduce a resolution designating August 11th, 2020 as “National Sons and Daughters Day” in Pennsylvania.

It was brought to my attention by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society that children today are facing many challenges in terms of their health and wellbeing due to world events and changing societal norms. A low-cost and rewarding way to preserve the health and wellness of our sons, daughters, and families is to encourage greater utilization of our parks and natural recreational opportunities.

Especially at a time like now, where children may be stuck inside for most hours of the day, it is important that we draw attention to the endless opportunities for physical activity and recreation throughout the Commonwealth. Spending time recreating in Pennsylvania parks will allow our children to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally as they experience the wonders of parks we have constructed and the marvels of our natural landscape.

This resolution serves to raise awareness of the benefits of exposing our sons and daughters to the boundless parks and recreational opportunities available to them.

I respectfully ask you to please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
