Subject: | Designating August 2020 as “Gastroparesis Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating August 2020 as “Gastroparesis Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Gastroparesis, one of the most severe and complicated gastric motility disorders, can be caused by a number of factors and is commonly seen in the diabetic population; however, often the cause is unknown. Approximately 1 in 25 Americans, including children, suffers from gastroparesis. In some instances, it appears for a brief time and goes away on its own or improves with treatment. Many cases are refractory and do not respond well to treatment. Therefore, I am introducing this resolution in a continued effort to increase public awareness of gastroparesis and to promote education efforts. I hope you will consider co-sponsoring this resolution. Thank you. |
