Subject: | Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution |
In the near future I intend to introduce legislation to amend the Pennsylvania Constitution. If approved, this amendment will prevent the current Governor and all future Governor’s from spending money beyond that which is appropriated by the General Assembly. The General Assembly has a Constitutional duty to enact a balanced budget for each Fiscal Year. We take this responsibility very seriously and diligently put together a fiscally responsible, balanced budget each year. Unfortunately, each year since he was elected, the current Governor has spent well above and beyond the funds appropriated by the General Assembly. If we are to be fiscal stewards of the people of Pennsylvania, this needs to stop. My proposed Constitutional Amendment will allow the people of Pennsylvania to determine if they want an executive branch that spends money however and wherever it chooses; or, if they want their duly elected representatives to determine how much of their money is spent each year. I invite you to join me in support of a fair and balanced budget. |
