Subject: | Biosolid Material |
In the future, I intend to re-introduce legislation (formerly Senate Bill 1243 of 2017-18 Session), and similar to House Bill 2281 of last session, regarding the regulation of biosolid waste (otherwise known as sewer sludge). Specifically, this legislation would enable a municipality to develop ordinances regulating the deposit, testing, and disposal or land application of biosolid materials. Additionally, this legislation would allow a municipality to veto a permit application approved by the Department of Environmental Protection for the deposit, or land application of this material. Land application of sewer sludge has been of particular concern to the residents in my legislative district. Therefore, it is my intent through introduction of this legislation to provide for more direct local control over the deposition of this material. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Christine Zubeck in my office at 717-787-6123 or czubeck@pasen.gov. Thank you for your consideration. |
