Subject: | Option for Sunday Car Sales |
Soon, I will re-introduce legislation, formerly SB367 of 2017, which will allow car dealerships to be open on Sundays. Currently, Pennsylvania is one of a remainder of states with “Blue Laws” on the books that do not permit Sunday car sales. This restriction puts dealerships that are located near neighboring states at a competitive disadvantage. Where presently, the surrounding states of New York, Ohio, and West Virginia allow Sunday car sales. Given that Sunday is the second largest shopping day of the week, this bill would also increase the flexibility and options for consumers to research, review, and purchase automobiles. This bill would not mandate that a dealership be open on Sunday - it would merely give them the option. Car sales are more competitive than ever in this global economy. The option to remain open on a Sunday can give dealerships the competitive edge they deserve. Co-sponsors from last session were Senators McGarrigle, Brewster, Bartolotta, Yudichak, Farnese, Vulakovich, Costa, Street, Aument, and Vogel. |
